This presser foot is used for piecing together patchwork with a seam allowance of 7 mm. A very common seam allowance in European patterns. Gives you about a .27″ seam allowance. So it is LARGER than a true 1/4″.
With no guide, this foot is very versatile and can sew with heavy to thick fabrics. Simply follow the edge of the foot.
