Join Gigi and create a set of adorable mug rugs using raw-edge appliqué through the use of a blanket stitch and zig zag stitch. If you have a straight stitch machine you can use that too, but a computerized would be the first option. An applique clear foot is suggested for computerized machines. For straight stitch machines such as the TL models a adjustable zipper foot or a shank adapter using an applique foot.
In this class, you will first learn to transfer patterns while using fusible webbing. We will also create a pieced and quilted background. Then we will start securing the designs by stitching them down while we learn to smoothly navigate those pesky corners and curves . We will purposely have patterns that allow you to work with straight lines and curves so you’re exposed to different challenges.
Class includes complete step-by-step instructions (both live and prerecorded) and will be easily accessible on-demand if you are unable to make it to the live showing.
The pattern will be Christmas themed, but the instructor will also teach you how to create your own patterns that can be used with the background quilted mug rug. 3 patterns will be included: a snowman, Christmas tree and an adorable cup with saucer.
Gigi’s class is streamed on a private Facebook group so it is important that you request to enter the Facebook group after you sign up for the class. You must have a Facebook account to participate. (CLASS LINK HERE) watch it on-demand at your leisure. The class will stay accessible for one year from the posting date. The class can be viewed on a mobile device , iPad , tablet or computers.
